College is established since 1989 by the Higher Education Department of V.P. Government vide order No. 2278/143/ek-f’k-/38-2/89 Bhopal Dated 12.07.1989. Initially its name was Government Pandit Shyam Shankar Mishra College, Deobhog, Gariyaband but from 2003 the college is renamed as Government Pandit Shyam Shankar Mishra College, Deobhog, Gariyaband vide order No. F 73/155/m f’k/2002 Raipur Dated 15.01.2003 of Higher Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government.
